CHEVRON, PORT OF TOWNSVILLE – NEW FUEL PIPELINES

Chevron Australia owns and operates an existing bulk fuel storage terminal within the Port of Townsville. The terminal consists of two separate sites with connecting transfer pipelines. Chevron proposed to construct two additional pipelines between the two sites and reconfigure their existing storage to improve operational efficiency and increase overall storage capacity.

Chevron engaged TFA to deploy its full suite of multi-disciplinary services including full detail design and engineering and the management of all project approvals, including those with the Port of Townsville.

This project was challenging from an engineering and constructability perspective given the existing pipelines and services infrastructure within the pipeline corridor between the two sites and the relatively high water table.

Storage capacity was also increased through the re-allocation of existing out of service tankage and significant piping, pump and hydraulic design was completed to improve site operations and the distribution of fuels, including master planning for further future growth.

TFA drew from its extensive experience in the design of bulk fuel terminals and pipelines and its many years in managing development approvals with the Port of Townsville.
