Chemical Engineer – Melbourne Office

“I started at TFA just after completing my final University exams and have been here for 3 years now. Right from the interview process through to today I have felt supported and encouraged from everyone within the business. From providing access to formal short courses (Hazardous Area Classification and Project Management) to internal informal mentoring i have really appreciate the access I have had to improve on my skills and knowledge. Starting out at the Melbourne office working directly with Ben, I have enjoyed the opportunity to transition from initially shadowing Ben getting an understanding of how TFA work and deliver the best result to our client to now being able to independently work with clients and internal teams to meaningfully contribute to our projects.

Over my time at TFA I have grown to appreciate how we are customer focused, not just providing a perfect technical solution but finding a way to best meet each individual clients wants and needs. I’ve enjoyed the access I have had to a broad variety of staff from the architectural and retail teams to the engineering disciplines all working together. No day is quite the same, I’ve had the chance to supervise geotechnical drilling, report on condition of service stations, hydraulic and other technical calculations, P&ID development and HAZOP participation to name a few.

I have really appreciated the opportunity to work directly with each director and the engineering manager right from when I first joined. The culture within TFA where everyone is willing to assist and provide advice on any relevant project has really helped me broaden my perspective and get an insight into projects well beyond the chemical engineering requirements. I also get the opportunity to get involved in non engineering tasks helping out around the office with a variety of other activities to understand how a business runs beyond our technical engineering support. I hope to continue assisting on a diverse range of projects and improving my technical and project management skills to continue to gain independence and understanding of our service offerings.”
