In 2022, Ampol unveiled their electric vehicle charging brand, AmpCharge and with it, their ambition to roll out a network of fast chargers across the country.
TFA were engaged to assist with early works approvals and construction management advice in-order for the first pilot sites to be constructed in QLD, NSW and VIC.
In 2023, Ampol engaged TFA to develop a set of standard design and construction drawings and specification to facilitate the national roll out. These standards covered all Architectural, Civil, Structural and Electrical components required of a new site installation to be constructed on both greenfield (new) and brownfield (existing) sites considerate of existing services, infrastructure and hazardous zones existent from Ampol’s hydrocarbon side of the business.
In 2024, TFA created a set of standards for the rollout of electric vehicle chargers on non-Ampol / commercial sites. These included the design of an installation for an airport hire-car facility in Canberra and the establishment of principals for installation at shopping centres across Australia. This came ahead of Ampol’s announcement with Stockland.
TFA was selected due to our experience in retail hydrocarbon service station design experience (including the development and maintenance of Ampol’s retail service station construction standards) and our considerable expertise in managing the construction and commissioning of retail fuel and electric charging systems across Australia.
