The Traveston Travel Centre is located along the Bruce Highway, approximately 2 hours north of Brisbane.
The site, located just south of the Gympie township, was a dedicated highway service centre site owned by the Department of Transport and Main Roads (DTMR).
DTMR ran a formal tender process for bidders to provide responses, with design and layout of the service centre being one of the key selection criteria.
TFA was the lead consultant in both running the successful bid response to DTMR and then in managing the project through all stages of concept, approvals, detail design and construction.
The Traveston Travel Centre covers a large footprint of approx. 4.5ha and includes a multi-tenanted commercial facility, dedicated refuelling areas for light and heavy vehicles, electric vehicle charging, driver rest areas, extensive parking and even the relocation of the Matilda kangaroo from the nearby Kybong site.
It is one of the largest fully dedicated highway service centres in Australia today.
